Shootings in Kosovo- Bad media coverage
It is so hard to get the truth of what is going on worldwide- even if you check the news regulary… today a friend was listening intently to the news, and I heard some stuff about Kosovo yesterday and I asked her about what is going on- she filled in the blanks for me- there had been a shooting in Kosovo/Kosova- two men critically injured- in a spree of recent violent attacks- Kosovar Albanians against Kosovo Serbs… as you can tell, the debate over the outcome of Kosovo has been tense- especially since the referendum to see if Montenegro will split from Serbia is coming up. While I haven’t seen any violence or anything here up north- it is obvious in speaking with anyone about the subject that there are hurts involved.
I went online to get more information abuot this- I mean hey, just a few weeks ago it was on the web/TV/newspapers about that they were restarting the talks again… and guess what!? I ONLY FOUND A BRIEF BLURB ON B92- Belgrade’s English news.
Now, don’t get me wrong- I would expect it to be on B92- since it’s a ‘Serbian Station’. And Serbian media has been known to be very biased too- they first showed things of the Srebrenica massacare only this last summer, when tapes of it came out as evidence against the people committing those acts- while the Intl. media showed it right after it happened…
But it just saddens me SO MUCH to see that the media is so biased… it doesn’t help anybody- it just makes each side more poloarized- and it seems that it will only come back to haunt us all later if we are not informed of what is really going on.
